You weren’t worth it until you quit…
YOU WEREN’T WORTH IT UNTIL YOU QUIT.
Here’s why you should be insulted by a counter offer:
To get a pay rise you had to resign. Digest that for a minute.
YOU WEREN’T WORTH IT UNTIL YOU QUIT.
You will always have to fight to receive a pay rise, the changes you wanted in the business, flexibility, and to be heard.
YOU WEREN’T WORTH IT UNTIL YOU QUIT.
They will always see you as a flight risk and treat you with an air of caution.
YOU WEREN’T WORTH IT UNTIL YOU QUIT.
Knowing you are a flight risk, they will now overlook you for promotion and likely bolster the team around you in case you threaten to leave again.
YOU WEREN’T WORTH IT UNTIL YOU QUIT.
They don’t value you, they were only willing to pay you more as they are scared to lose your knowledge and it’s easier to keep you than to replace you.
YOU WEREN’T WORTH IT UNTIL YOU QUIT.
It’s cheaper to keep you than replace you – it costs on average £30k to replace someone when you account for lost time, lost knowledge, time to replace, recruitment fees and time for the new employee to get up to speed. They will also pay a higher salary for your replacement.
YOU WEREN’T WORTH IT UNTIL YOU QUIT
THEY DON’T VALUE YOU if they did, they would have paid you what you are worth, listened to your opinions, made process/business/tech changes earlier and you would never have resigned in the first place.
Don’t accept the counteroffer.
You weren’t worth it until you quit.
